Personnel
Marion M. Almy Founding principal and President of Archaeological Consultants, Inc., is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) with more than 30 years of experience in all facets of Cultural Resource Management. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from Florida State University and M.A. in Public Archaeology from the University of South Florida. Ms. Almy’s extensive experience includes working with federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the identification, evaluation, and treatment of cultural resources. She has completed advanced training in Section 106 Agreement Document Preparation, Integrating NEPA and Section 106 and the Revised Section 106 regulations. In addition, Ms. Almy is experienced in facilitating the coordination of historic preservation issues and Florida’s growth management legislation through her tenure on local and regional planning boards and historical commissions.
Joan G. Deming Co-principal and Vice President of ACI, is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) with 30 years of cultural resource management experience. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and her M.A. in Anthropology with an emphasis in cultural resource management from the University of South Florida. Ms. Deming has received training in Cultural Resource Management Plans: Preparation and Implementation; the Section 106 Process, including integrating NEPA and Section 106, and Consultation with Indian Tribes on Cultural Resource Issues. She also has specialized training and expertise in archaeological collections and records management.
Barbara Perry ACI's Marketing Director and Office Manager supervises day-to-day activities, manages the clerical staff and assists the Controller at Corporate Headquarters in Sarasota. Mrs. Perry attends networking and marketing events in the architectural/engineering/construction industry throughout the Tampa Bay area. Mrs. Perry is in charge of all ACI special events and activities and is a Notary Public in and for the State of Florida.
Thomas W. Crawford ACI’s Controller, received his B.A. in Economics and Anthropology from the University of Manitoba and his Honors in Business Administration from Western University. His responsibilities include financial reporting, compliance with tax and governmental regulations, project accounting and control, and personnel functions. Before joining ACI, he was Manager of Administration of the Ontario branch of McKerlie-Millen, Inc. and Management Services Accountant in the Small Business Consulting Division of Coopers and Lybrand.
Elizabeth A. Horvath Senior project Archaeologist, received her B.A. in Anthropology from Cleveland State University and her M.A. in Anthropology with an emphasis in cultural resource management from the University of South Florida. Ms. Horvath manages the Tallahassee Area office, and serves as ACI’s liaison with the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) and State Archaeologist. She is a Registered Profession Archaeologist with over 20 years of experience. Before joining ACI, Ms. Horvath was in charge of the Compliance Section of the Investigation and Evaluation Branch of the National Park Service’s Southeast Archaeological Center in Tallahassee and also served as a Principal Investigator and Archaeologist. Ms. Horvath has specialized training in OSHA Regulations for Construction Supervisors (Competent Person: Excavation, Trenching and shoring), OSHA Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste Emergency Response, and Telecommunications Towers: NEPA and NHPA Review.
Lee Hutchinson Senior Archaeologist and ACI Laboratory Supervisor, received her B.A. in Anthropology from Marshall University in West Virginia and her M.A. in Anthropology, with an emphasis in cultural resource management, from the University of South Florida. Ms. Hutchinson is a Registered Professional Archaeologist, past president of the Florida Archaeological Council, member of the Southeastern Archaeological Conference, the Florida Anthropological Society, and the Central Gulf Coast Archaeological Society. Prior to coming to ACI she served as the Sarasota County Archaeologist, and Archaeologist for the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council. She currently serves on the Hillsborough County Historical Resources Review Board and is on the Board of Directors of the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN).
Chris Newman Senior Archaeologist with Archaeological Consultants, Inc., has over 20 years of professional experience in archaeology and cultural resource management. Before joining ACI, she was employed by the Florida Bureau of Archaeological Research (BAR), Division of Historical Resources (DHR) as an Archaeologist, and Archaeologist Supervisor where she supervised the CARL Archaeological Program, responsible for identifying, recording, and assessing cultural resources on state preservation lands. Ms. Newman has also served as the City Archaeologist for St. Augustine, Florida, and is an adjunct professor at St. Johns River Community College in St. Augustine. Ms. Newman manages ACI’s St. Augustine office and is responsible for overseeing its daily operation, as well as ACI’s projects in the region.
Patricia Slovinac Architectural Historian, received her B.A.E. from Pennsylvania State University and her M.A. in Architectural History with a Certificate in Historic Preservation from University of Virginia. She has 5 years of professional experience in the identification, evaluation and documentation of historic resources. She is also experienced in preservation planning, the preparation of National Register nominations, and HABS/HAER documentation. Prior to joining ACI, she was employed by the National Architectural Trust in Washington, DC, focusing on the donation of Conservation Easements.
Tesa Norman Senior Graphic Specialist and Architectural Technician, works with a wide range of design programs including Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, ArcGIS, and CAD to design and develop visual solutions for ACI’s clients. She also assists ACI Architectural Historians with photography and preparing drawings of historic buildings and resources, and aids the Marketing Director with exhibitions, displays, corporate communications, advertising and website.
Marielle Lumang Architectural Historian, received her B.S. in Architectural Studies from University of Arkansas and her M.H.P. in Historic Preservation from University of Georgia. Prior to coming to ACI she worked for the National Park Service at GGNRA: Alcatraz Island. She is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and documenting historic resources and is a member of National Trust for Historic Preservation and US/ICOMOS: International Council on Monuments and Sites.
